DELMAR – Woodbridge senior C.J. Pleasants went the distance on the hill and scattered seven hits to lead the Blue Raiders (1-0 overall, 1-0 Henlopen) to a baseball win over Delmar.
The Wildcats (1-1, 0-1), who led 1-0 before Woodbridge found its rhythm against Delmar ace junior K.J. Trader and plated five runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings, collected doubles from junior Cody Shupe and Trader in the loss. Junior Jarrett Macer tripled for Delmar as well.
The Raiders’ win, despite being early in the season, could be a major factor in the race for the Southern Division crown and its automatic state tournament berth.
Delmar travels to Caesar Rodney (1-1, 1-0) Tuesday, while Woodbridge hosts Lake Forest (0-1, 0-1) the same day. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
