Lewes junior firefighter charged for false 911 call

MILTON – A 17-year-old junior member of the Lewes Fire Department was charged Monday with making a false 911 call for a fire in Milton on Jan. 2, the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

The Lewes Fire Company responded to the 29000 block of Whites Neck Way shortly after 8:30 p.m. for a 911 fire report, officials said. Fire apparatus responded to the location and determined that no fire or other emergency existed, the Fire Marshal’s Office said.

Authorities said the male was charged with misdemeanor falsely reporting an incident for calling 911 and reporting a fire when no fire or other emergency existed.

The juvenile has been released to his parents pending a Family Court hearing.
