MILLSBORO – Millsboro town police are seeking 32-year-old Rayfus R. Whaley of Millsboro, wanted in connection with a shooting May 24 at the Millsboro Village Apartments on Old Landing Road.
According to Millsboro Police Chief John Murphy, investigation determined a fight broke out in the common area between numerous subjects.
During the fight, Mr. Whaley fired a small caliber pistol which struck another person, who was treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
Mr. Whaley fled the scene before police arrived.
A warrant has been obtained for Mr. Whaley, charging him with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, carrying concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
Whaley has not been apprehended and police ask anyone with information regarding Rayfus Whaley or his whereabouts to contact Millsboro Police Department at 934-8174 or Crime stoppers at 800-847-3333.</
