USS Missouri gun barrel welcomed in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN - An original 66-foot long, 16-inch wide, 120-ton piece of history was on display in Georgetown Monday, April 16, 2012.

A welcome celebration was held at The Circle for a gun barrel from the historic battleship USS Missouri, the stage in Tokyo Bay for the formal Japanese surrender that ended World War II, that will be shortly be on permanent display at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Guest speakers included USS Missouri vet Richard Snyder of Rehoboth Beach and Col. Newt Tyndall of Georgetown.
