Not just Pit Bull owners, any dog owner who does this should be chained to a tree.

The facts regarding taxes, dog control and raises for county employees:

"...Banta and Levy Court Vice President Allan F. Angelsaid the tax rollback is a step toward fulfilling a promise they made in 2008, when Levy Court raised the tax rate by six cents to cover animal control and paramedic costs shifted to the county by the General Assembly.Since 2008, the county has cut its budget by between $8 and 9 million. A portion of that savings came from offering an early retirement option to county workers, maintaining a strict hiring and promotions freeze, and requiring employees to contributing a portion of their pay toward their pension fund.

Commissioner Eric Buckson said the tax reduction was designed to go hand in hand with the 1.8% employee raise and the unfreezing of the promotional structure.

Like the tax reduction, the added employee expenditures also will cost the county about $314,000.

“The county government has done a good job of managing our way through the crisis. If you agree some of that has been through withholding pay raises, and we have the ability to give them a raise, then we should do that. It was fair to agree to some sort of cost of living increase,” Buckson said. “You must also respect the county taxpayers in some way and give them a pay raise in the form of a tax cut.”
