One more truth that liberals hate ...
Mr. Phil McDonald Sr., in response [“Half-truths,” Letters to the Editor, April 20] to my list of “Truths that liberals hate” [Letters, April 9], chooses NOT to address such charges as Obama’s overspending and federal-government waste of taxpayer dollars, liberalism vs. communism similarities, entitlement mindsets and reform obstinacy, Democratic Party racism, the evils of abortion, education-labor-union shortcomings or voter-identification concerns.
Instead, he wishes to focus on the very old, very irrelevant U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Bush/Gore election of 2000. It appears that the far left is OBSESSED WITH DISBELIEF that the judicial system, which they so fervently believe should have the power to make law, could say that what they wanted was UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
The far left cling to the notion that the U.S. Supreme Court “selected” Bush as president, when, in fact, what they ruled was that the partisan Democrat Florida Supreme Court’s decision to order a recount of the votes was in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment! What really occurred was that the Democrats were attempting to STEAL the election and the U.S. Supreme Court put a stop to it! Far-left Democrats were shocked into disbelief – and they have not, to this day, gotten over it. Boo-hoo.
One of my stated “truths” was that “Asking people to present identification to vote is a no-brainer. Liberals dislike that requirement because they would no longer be able to ‘steal’ elections through voter fraud.” The Dems tried to steal the 2000 election – and failed. That does not mean, however, that they have given up trying. Their stance against voter ID in order to vote is more than ample proof of their continuing obsession with obtaining power. No amount of liberal whining will change that.
