Harrington Pop Warner

I am a parent of 3 Lake Forest students as well as a district employee.  My children are involved in the Harrington Pop Warner program.  Recently we were just told that our teams are only allowed to play one of their four home games on the High School football field this year.  I am not sure what the reasoning behind this decision is and I am not sure who ultimately makes this decision but it is very disappointing that the district is not allowing THEIR students and hopefully someday THEIR high school football players to play on that field for four home football games.  What are you telling these boys and their families by doing this?

Many other districts allow their Pop Warner programs to play on their high school football fields.  The Pop Warner program is a feeder program for the middle school and high school.  These kids also must meet an academic standard to be eligible to play.  If the district doesn’t try and come together with this program then they are going to push those students and families away and make them not want to be a part of the Lake Forest Family.

The majority of the football coaches are Lake Forest graduates who all played in the Lake Forest program.  They are volunteering their time to teach and mentor these young athletes to try and make them better kids and great football players.  I think it is a slap in the face to them by not allowing their football players to play on that field.

This year our Pop Warner program decided to change the name from the Harrington Huskies to the Harrington Little Spartans.  One of the reasons behind this change was because they thought that would help unify us as one family and be more apart of Lake Forest, but by not allowing the boys to play on the football field for whatever reason, just makes the name change a waste of time and money.

I would encourage parents and supporters of the Pop Warner program and Lake Forest to stand up for these kids by bringing this issue to the school board and voicing their opinions.

I competely agree.  There was a time that they were allowed to use the High School fields... They even had evening games so the kids could play under the lights.  There is no reason, in my opinion, why we cant use the big field.  Our kids are just as much Lake Forest as the high school kids.  This would allow them to show pride for their school as well as their talents!  These kids have been working their butts off since August 1st and it isnt too much to ask for them use the "real field" instead of the practice field.  Come on Lake Forest... Stand up and support your students... They deserve it... they are YOUR Spartans!

Actually people do care.  You are just a fool with nothing better to do with your time.  You must be a Democrat.
