2012 Dover municipal elections

Howard Earle is running for 3rd district and i have had the pleasure of talking with him about the

increases in property tax, electricity, and trash collection. We have talked about the library,

the prower plant that noone but city council can see the benefits of.. Folks isnt it time we had

a city council that listens to us ? that votes with our interest in mind, not how they are financing the next

party or vacation? the new landrover? I like that Howard earle wants to do open public forums every other month

to give us a voice. I like that He is out here in Dover knocking on doors himself and talking to the

people of Dover. Folks its time we clean our own house. Our city can not take any more of this greed.

we are losing our city. The beautiful farming community i grew up in is almost non-existant. its time for change.

I hope everyone of You gets to meet Howard Earle and see that change is possiable:}

2012 Dover municipal elections

This is real annoying clicking on a story and not knowing where you left off, now you have to slowly scroll through all the crap before you get to the last place you were at...

I also tried to change my avatar on the other forum and it won't let me do it unless I use one of there stupid looking 3-d bobbleheads. I sent a message to the webteam, I got a response asking for my name etc. Then I never heard back from them...  I guess that is fine, I never expected to hear anything form them the first time...

Holly Malone campaign support letter

April 17 is an important day for voters in the 1st District of the City ofDover. They have a great opportunity to elect one who:

    1. Is an Optimist,

    2. Who has prior City Council experience,

    3. Looks ahead to make the City ofDovera highly desirable place to live and raise families,

    4. Believes that city services must be maintained, enhanced and cost-effective,

    5. Supports our top-notch police service,

    6. Is a consensus-builder and is highly respected in theDovercommunity, and

    7. Is a leader that has the capability to pursue pragmatic solutions to the city’s economic and growth problems.

That person is clearly Holly Malone, and she will bring much enthusiasm to solve the many issues.

The city’s current budget problems developed over several years, and the national economic downturn has made it worse. There was over-reliance on real-estate-transfer taxes, building permits and other fluctuating revenue sources to support city services. The five-term incumbent and former City Council president has shown no leadership in tackling these problems other than pushing across-the-board budget cuts and a hiring freeze. As a result, the organizational performance of the city staff is being reduced, and the situation will become worse if changes are not made.

The extraordinary and precious right to elect our own leaders is cherished by free people everywhere. When many others are denied such rights, we send our young people to other parts of the world to help them gain the right to self-govern. I hope more people show up to vote in theDovercity election.

Voters in the 1st District have this extraordinary opportunity to exercise their rights on April 17.

What we need is a real problem-solver and not just a “Nay”-sayer. That is why we need to elect Holly Malone to improve city governance.

Bev Williams letter of support

Bev Williams is the most-qualified candidate to represent the 1st District in the City ofDover. Her experience, serving as Council president and chairperson of the Safety Advisory Committee, uniquely qualifies her for the position.

Williams is a staunch advocate for public safety. She has voted to increase the authorized number of police officers on the Dover PD from ’81-’93. She has supported senior citizens by voting to deny zoning changes that would have proven detrimental to theModernMaturityCenter. Ms. Williams has voted to lower electricity rates and return excess funds to the ratepayers, thus illustrating her concerns for the constituents she serves.

In 2010, Bev Williams led the charge against a regressive budget. She voted “No” to significant increases in taxes (8.69 percent), to increases ranging from 11-44 percent in water/wastewater, and a 100-percent increase in trash fees. She has voted “No” to excessive salary increases for city employees, ranging from 9-18.7 percent, during a time of severe financial crisis (2007-2012).

Now more than ever, the citizens ofDoverneed a strong voice to represent them, a councilperson willing to say “NO” to a proposed budget that includes potential tax increases of 3-6 percent and a trash fee that will increase another 54 percent!

It’s time to stop the fiscal insanity. Vote for Bev Williams, the true conservative, on April 17, 2012. She still hears the cries of her constituents who occupied the chamber at City Hall urging Council to say “NO” to excessive spending. She listened then, and she will listen now!
