The 2012 awards ceremony was held at Aqua Sol restaurant in Bear on Thursday, March 16 to recognize recipients in the following categories: Elementary Art Educator, Art Educator, Retired Art Educator, Museum Art Educator, and the Howard Pyle Award.
The Delaware Art Education Association promotes the philosophy of art education which establishes, maintains and integrates art learning as an essential part of education. The DAEA also recognizes excellence in art and art education and supports arts in the community at large. The DAEA presents annual Delaware Art Educator of the Year awards to honor outstanding DAEA members who dedicate their time to outstanding service and achievement.
"I feel so privileged to receive this award and to be recognized among such an outstanding group of art educators from Delaware," Ms. Cooper said.
"It's extremely rewarding to provide engaging and unique educational opportunities for children in a museum setting and to have the opportunity to collaborate with other art educators for tours, youth exhibitions and programs. This is truly an honor."
