JW's Sports Bar and Restaurant, a longtime Dover nightspot, has closed its doors after more than 20 years.

Postings on Facebook Monday confirmed the closure of the business in the Hamlet Shopping Center that started life as The Dugout in the late 1980s.

JW's was one of the few area establishments to feature live music five nights a week and drew scores of Kent Countians for Sunday afternoon and Monday night football games.

The shuttering of the business left many customers and longtime regulars, who are hoping for a buyer to reopen the establishment, scrambling for a new watering hole.
