As we told you a couple of weeks ago, the Kent County Theatre Guild will close its current season tonight with the comedy "Moonlight and Magnolias."
The play, starring KCTG veterans Bruce Leister, Mike Polo, John Zinzi and Patti Gatto and directed by guild mainstay Chris Polo, deals with the run-up to film the classic tale "Gone With the Wind."
The story follows producer David Selznick, director Victor Fleming and screenwriter Ben Hecht over a five-day span in 1939 during which the three rewrote the script based on the Margaret Mitchell tale.
To meet the deadline and resume production, Mr. Selznick decided the three men would hole up in his office for five days to work nonstop, eating nothing but peanuts and bananas, which he called "brain food."
The production starts tonight and Saturday at 8. at the Patchwork Playhouse, 140 E. Roosevelt Ave., in Dover and continues May 11 and 12, 18 and 19, at 8 p.m., with a matinee on May 13 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors, military and children.
