Welcome to my blog world. Here, periodically we'll focus on Sussex County happenings and maybe some beyond.
Today, the magic of Trap Pond State Park.
Having grown up in the rolling hills of the Endless Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania i spent much of my childhood outdoors, exploring trails and just enjoying fresh air and a peaceful getaway from life's daily routine.
Thursday was Healthy Kids Day at Trap Pond -- an annual event geared to introduce students to the great outdoors and encourage kids and their families to include physical activity and exercise in daily life.
Needless to say with hundreds of energetic fourth graders on hand, the park was very much alive with screams of joy, fun and laughter.
Yet, just a short walk from the Healthy Kids Day staging area there was peace and serenity, interruped only occassionally by chirping birds or a squirrel's call.
That, and the towering trees, the sparkle off the water and a slight breeze were the makings for a brief, yet very enjoyable hike.
Ah, if only there was a hammock ...!
